Jesus said God authorized and commanded me to commission you: Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life. The Great Commission, the last words of Jesus before he ascended to glory.
These words, His words, have been used throughout the centuries to motivate a multitude of volunteers, to fund the endeavours of so many, and to accomplish so much in his name.
Yet at the heart of it all is Jesus. Mission is more than doing things for him, more than giving sacrificially, more than building great and mighty things. At the centre of it all, the main point, the focus is and needs to remain Jesus.
The assignment is a commission from our heavenly Father, an earnest invitation to partner with him in his endeavour to seek and to save the lost, after all he desires that all people everywhere come to know him. Eternal life is to know him and Jesus Christ whom he sent.
Let us introduce you to our friend.
The mission, the co-mission, if you choose to accept it, is to partner with God and others in the greatest assignment of human history, which is, introducing people to God. It is not so much that we love him, but to know that he loves us; loves me and loves you intentionally.
